Getting there is half the fun when you’re traveling by boat! Boston Harbor has year-round ferries and water taxis and warm-weather recreational trips as well.
The MBTA currently offers scheduled ferry service year round to the Charlestown Navy Yard, Hingham, Hull, and Logan Airport operated by Boston Harbor Cruises. You can buy tickets on board with cash, show a month Commuter Rail pass for the proper zone, or buy a ticket on the mTicket app.
Note: After suspending service from mid-March to mid-June, service has resumed but there is no weekend service.

There are seasonal ferry services to Salem, Provincetown, Winthrop, and Quincy. Tickets can be purchased online for all of them and on board for some of them. These services are closed for the winter.

A year-round ferry service connects Lovejoy Wharf (next to North Station) with the Fan Pier in the Boston Seaport during weekday commuting hours. The ferry operated from August through November 2020.Learn more and get tickets.

Normally, seven of the Boston Harbor Islands can be reached by ferry: Spectacle, Georges, Peddocks, Thompson, Grape, Lovell’s, and Bumpkin. This summer, ferry service was only offered to Spectacle Island.Ferry schedules, fares, and additional information can be found here.
Little Brewster (home of Boston Light) is not accessible by ferry this season.
Lynn Ma Casino Cruise
Water taxis provide on-call service at 28 locations around the Inner Harbor. Trips to between most water taxi docks are $12-15 per passenger. Trips can be booked by calling 617.227.4320 or 617.406.8584. Service is provided by Boston Harbor Cruises and Rowes Wharf Water Transport.
A water shuttle provides service between the Encore Boston Harbor Casino and Long Wharf on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Tickets are currently free. Additional information about the service can be found here.
Book Harbor Islands Mooring on Dockwa
The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation in collaboration with Boston Harbor Now and the Boston Harbor Islands Partnership are bringing new moorings to the park this season. The new moorings will be located at Spectacle, Georges, and Peddocks Islands. Coming soon to the Dockwa Platform!
