The only way I can describe it is as close to playing in the World Series of Poker without leaving these shores. It’s even more like the WSOP than the World Series of Poker Europe was when it was held in London, and I made two final tables there! The venue is perfect. Grosvenor Casinos, in association withD4 events, introduces the Goliath: a five-day poker tournament planning to break European records at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry, running from the 24th-28th August 2011. Up to 1,500 players in total could attend this landmark event. For a buy-in of just £100 + £20 the prize pool has been guaranteed by Grosvenor Casinos at £100,000, which means the winner will walk away with over £25K!
Goliath represents an opportunity to turn a tiny buy-in into a five-figure payday, while breaking a record and supporting Marie Curie Cancer Care (25% of the registration fee goes directly to charity).
The Ricoh Arena, a state-of-the-art 21st century complex, provides a huge conference area as well as exhibition, hotel and sports facilities. The Ricoh will be offering players preferential rates on hotel accommodation specifically for this event.
This event will take place after Dusk Till Dawn attempt to break the UK attendance record in May with the 1600 runner Grand Prix (However, that event is roughly half the buy-in of the Goliath at €50+€10).
